Guardianship

A guardianship may be appropriate in a variety of situations for both children and adults.

A guardian can be appointed by the Court when a person is incapacitated and unable to make decisions for themselves, or properly care for themselves due to a clinically diagnosed condition.  Sometimes a person seeks to become a guardian of a minor child due to unfortunate circumstances involving that child’s family.  A child’s parents may have died or be in a situation which prevents them from properly caring for their child.  Other times, a person seeks to be appointed as a guardian of an adult who for many reasons is unable to care for themselves or unable to process information or communicate such that their health, safety or welfare is at risk.

We can help you to evaluate your specific situation to determine whether a guardianship is appropriate, and provide the necessary legal representation to obtain the guardianship.  Contact us for more information or to schedule a consultation.
