Trial Court Standing Committee on Dispute Resolution
Attorney Andrea M. Wells is one of a select few members of the private bar who is a member of the Trial Court Standing Committee on Dispute Resolution. The Committee has members from each of the Trial Court Departments and was key in obtaining ADR Funding from the Massachusetts Legislature for Court-connected dispute resolution for the first time in ten years. The Committee is committed to increasing the use of Dispute Resolution within all Trial Court Departments, and training Judges and Court staff about the alternative methods for resolving disputes. Dispute Resolution encompasses many variations of Court alternatives to settlement, including Conciliation, Mediation, Arbitration, and Collaborative Law. The Committee is currently planning an ADR Conference later this year and preparing for the state-wide Dispute Resolution Week.
Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation
Attorney Andrea M. Wells is finishing her first year on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation and is serving on the Board’s Membership Committee. In December 2018, MCFM held its annual Family Mediation Institute in Waltham with the Honorable Chief Justice John D. Casey as guest speaker. Judge Casey engaged in spirited dialogue with MCFM members and provided insight into recent and pending legislation, Court programs and initiatives, and a general overview of the “State of the State.” The Mediation Institute was sponsored by Our Family Wizard, which is a website/app that provides separated and divorced parents a neutral environment to exchange information and successfully co-parent.
