Attorney Karen J. Levitt is joining mediators Bill Eddy, Shawn Weber, and Michael Lomax as a panelist on a program entitled “High Conflict Personalities in Online Mediation”, to be presented at the Academy of  Professional Family Mediator’s (APFM) annual conference which is taking place October 16-17, 2020.  Attorney Levitt’s panel is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 2:30 pm EST.  Levitt will talk about mediating with high conflict personalities online from the “feet on the ground” perspective. As an attorney who mediates and does other forms of dispute resolution such as Collaborative Law, Levitt also litigates, providing in online mediation the court perspective which can help parties positively negotiate while understanding the legal framework for negotiations.

Karen’s co-panelists are highly skilled experts in the world of family law mediation.  Bill Eddy is a lawyer, therapist, mediator, author, and often keynote speaker, who is the Chief Innovation Officer and Co-Founder of the High Conflict Institute in San Diego, CA.  Bill is an expert in his field, and developed the high conflict personality theory to explain what drives people who present the most challenging behaviors in mediation.  He has trained thousands of professionals around the world in learning to understand and manage high conflict disputes.  Co-panelist Sean Weber is an attorney and mediator, and founder of Weber Dispute Resolution in San Diego, CA.   Sean acts as a “peacemaker” helping people move through emotional turmoil to successful negotiations. Shawn is also trained in Collaborative Practice.  Finally, co-panelist Michael Lomax is an attorney, mediator and conflict resolution trainer from Victoria, British Columbia.  He focuses on helping people and organizations resolve conflict by problem solving so they can have better communications and preserve relationships.

The conference is virtual and draws mediators from around the country.
